Color hmmmmm?!

There are those classic colors we choose to knit projects with:
For example, if it is for a man, typically we knit with navy, brown, grey… You know what I mean… Or if we offer our homemade gem to an older woman, we may use rose, pastel green….?

For babies, you ask?

Obviously, the colors we see the most are pink for girls and blue for boys.
Or for the more adventurous crafters, violet or mint green may be played upon!

Well, what about if we decide to permit ourselves to get out of the box we keep ourselves in?

That’s what I challenged myself to do with this baby girl’s dress, Little sister’s dress by Tora Froseth.
It wasn’t much of a challenge, really. I didn’t need convincing!
I examined the ARTFIL hand painted yarn ,Belle, and found myself being drawn to its deep rich color.

Fellow yarn lovers: I know you will understand! You want to squish it warm in your hands as you look at its charm! Right? Right….

So, I decided to throw caution to the wind and went for it!
Sangria! Ye Sangria It is absolutely gorgeous, alluring and ……what can I say?
Profound.

That may sound overpowering for yarn description, but that’s the kind of feeling I got from looking at its exquisiteness. Interesting, huh?
So, I was audacious and went for it!
In addition to Sangria, I incorporated slate and Frosted frosted rose (by the way, there’s a huge difference between frosted rose and pink!).
I was fascinated by the effect of slate and frosted rose on the welting part of the dress. The two colors blended well yet were distinct enough to be striking.
(This is how I included these in the welt I changed color on the second stst row. C1: row 6 C2: round 2).
But when I began using sangria… Wow! Beautiful! I decided to add knitted button covers and neck/arm trimmings in this sangria to bring all these lovely colors together!(the button cover was knitted using wrap & turn technique: BUTTON COVER pattern from Mama Martinha is good as a guide.

The result: Instead of the typical compliments one gets for knitted baby clothes, such as: It’s so cute! It’s adorable!…….
I have been getting:
It is stunning!
It is lovely!
It is spectacular!
It is so chic!
It is gorgeous!
